Workshop 3 Overview:
Workshop 3 was preceded by meetings in September with the Campus Community Relations Committee (CCRC) and the Office of Strategic Initiatives. Neighborhood representatives provided valuable information related to their campus experience, wayfinding, gateways, campus edges, student housing, and transportation. Strategic Planners provided further insight into the development and intention of the Strategic Plan. Topics that emerged for further detailed study included Campus Experience, Student Success, and Instructional and Research space.
The October 7-8 workshop included meetings with the Master Plan Steering Committee, Operations Committee, and several Campus Plan Focus Groups. The consultant team also hosted open houses in the Student Union for students, faculty, staff, and campus-area neighborhoods.
Committees and Focus Groups analyzed the four topics that emerged from the Office of Strategic Planning, and identified potential physical development and policy alignment possibilities associated with these topics.
The open houses resulted in new insights about how students, faculty, staff, neighbors and visitors move to, from and around campus, their favorite places, and which public offerings are taken advantage of, including athletic events, performing arts venues, museums, services and more.
