Workshop 4: January 21-22, 2020

Workshop 4 Overview:

The January 21 Workshop included an Operations Committee meeting, which reviewed progress since their last meeting in October. The Committee was updated on recent engagement and feedback from the campus and surrounding community. The MP team engaged the Committee in conversation about master plan concepts currently in development.

The research meeting discussed how the Master Plan will identify the University’s goals with regard to research space, focusing on: the existing inventory; future research space programs; types of research and support space needed; collaboration clusters; innovation zones; and integration with existing campus resources. A discussion was initiated about which existing research facilities may be appropriate for renovation, which are not suited for future research uses, and what programs are ideal for new construction.

The sustainability meeting highlighted UA’s past successes, current initiatives, and future goals related to sustainability. Topics included energy, people/diversity/inclusion, built environment, landscape, and transportation.

Other meetings addressed the current housing & Residential Life profile, future housing locations and typologies, accessibility, Campus Recreation profile and future needs, instructional space, student life integration and student success resources.
